Porcelain Veneers
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface.
Dr. Forero may use one veneer to restore a single tooth that may have been fractured or discolored, or multiple teeth to create a "Hollywood" type of makeover. Many people have small teeth resulting in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Some people have worn away the edges of their teeth resulting in an unpleasing and prematurely aged appearance, while others may have malpositioned teeth that appear crooked. Multiple veneers can close these spaces, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, provide a uniform color, shape, and symmetry, and instantly straighten the teeth's appearance. While orthodontics may be the preferred method for straightening most teeth, some teeth may remain unattractive with flaws in their teeth may require veneers to enhance them anyway. These people would greatly benefit from veneers and may not need to go through braces at all.
Dr. Forero is proud to be one of the only Certified Providers for Lumineers. Lumineers are the thinnest veneers available, as thin as a contact lens, which is has minimal or not at all reduction of your own teeth. This type of veneers are great for people that want to fix their smile and are afraid of needles, the procedure is painless. No anesthesia is needed in most cases.

Teeth Whitening
If you are a candidate for bleaching, Dr. Forero may suggest a procedure that can be done in office. Yellow-ish hued teeth will probably bleach well, brownish-colored teeth may bleach less well, and grayish-hued teeth may not bleach well at all. Likewise, bleaching may not enhance your smile if you have had bonding or tooth-colored fillings placed in your front teeth. The whitener will not affect the color of these materials, and they will stand out in your newly whitened smile. In these cases, you may want to investigate other options, like porcelain veneers or dental bonding.
In-office bleaching
This procedure is called chair side bleaching and may require more than one office visit. Each visit may take from one hour. During chair side bleaching, a protective gel is applied to your gums to protect the oral soft tissues. A bleaching agent is then applied to the teeth, and a special light may be used to enhance the action of the agent. You should expect a difference of 7-11 shades lighter at the end of the visit. Yellow-ish hued teeth might find better results than brownish or grayish hued teeth. Dr. Forero may suggest more than one whitening treatment in hard cases.
Cosmetic Bondings and fillings could be part of the whitening process. Dr. Forero will remove old yellow composites and amalgams (silver fillings) that you might want to replace to have a complete white smile.

Bonding
Bonding can improve the appearance of chipped, broken, cracked and stained teeth and spaces between teeth. Dentists apply a thin layer of tooth-colored composite resin to the teeth to restore chips and cracks, fill in gaps or cover stains, and provide patients with a more attractive and functional smile. First, a thin layer of plastic material is applied to the tooth's surface. Then the dentist sculpts the bonding material to the desired shape and bonds it to the tooth using a special light. The bonding material comes in many colors so it will be possible to match the shade of your teeth. Once the plastic has hardened, it is polished until it is entirely smooth. The procedure takes one to two hours.
