HOW TO RELAX AT THE DENTIST WITH ORAL SEDATION

Posted on June 18, 2018
While laughing gas is the most used and well-known dental sedation, there are other types of sedation dentistry available to address your dental anxiety. Oral sedation involves taking one or more pills as directed by your dentist prior to your appointment. Oral sedation will allow you to relax during your appointment, while remaining awake and aware. It is important that you follow the dentist's instructions when it comes to taking your medication to make sure that it has the proper effect.

Depending on your general health and your procedure, your dentist may want to monitor your vital signs while you are in the chair. When your appointment is over, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home. As you recover from your appointment, you will need time to let the effects of the sedative wear off.

If you have questions about oral sedation, or sedation dentistry in general, our dentists, Dr. Forero and Dr. Valderruten, will be happy to speak with you. To make an appointment at our office in Coral Springs, Florida, call 954-752-4901 today.
