YOUR REGULAR DENTAL CHECKUP IS IMPORTANT FOR MAINTAINING GOOD LONG-TERM ORAL HEALTH

Posted on June 18, 2018

Maintaining good oral health is important for maintaining a good quality of life. To aid in this endeavor, the American Dental Association recommends that you brush twice and floss once per day and attend a regular dental checkup twice each year. Every dental check performed by your dentist, Dr. William Forero, is designed to examine and address the multiple facets needed to maintain your oral health for years to come.

The checkup starts with a dental hygienist performing a thorough dental cleaning. This is designed to remove all traces of hardened tartar from your teeth and also polish away surface stains. Through the course of the cleaning, the hygienist will also keep an eye out for signs of tooth decay or gum disease.

Dr. William Forero will then examine your teeth, giving special attention to any trouble spots the hygienist might have noticed. If there are cavities, signs of gum disease or other issues, he will help you understand your treatment options. Dr. William Forero will then conduct a basic cancer screening, examining your mouth, neck, and tongue for signs of oral or pharyngeal cancer.

If your tooth enamel shows signs of weakness, Dr. William Forero might recommend a basic fluoride treatment. This will fortify the microscopic mineral crystals that your tooth enamel is made from.

If you suspect that you've developed a problem in your mouth, or if you're due for your next checkup in Coral Springs, Florida, you should call William Forero DMD, PA at 954-752-4901 to schedule an appointment.
